About Girl Scouts

The Girl Scouts of the USA was established on March 12, 1912, by Juliette Gordon Low, also known as "Daisy." Inspired by meeting with Robert-Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts. Low aimed to create an organization that would empower girls to develop their skills, confidence, and character. The first troop consisted of 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia, who engaged in various activities that encouraged self-reliance and community service.

The mission of Girl Scout is building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs for girls from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to do something amazing.
