Zion Church, we are a friendly, Bible-believing church family whose endeavor is to impact the community for Christ by Growing the Church to Glorify God. We are a loving, family-oriented body of believers who seek to serve God by serving others. We are totally committed to lifting Jesus and reaching people while striving for the spiritual, physical, economic, and political betterment of humanity.

"Be Obedient to God with Me"

 Pastor Charlene Gomez

Pastor Charlene Gomez was installed pastor of Mt. Hebrew AME Zion Church in November 2020.

 

Her related experience includes Advocates for Youth; Adams County Pennsylvania Children’s Shelter; Frederick County Boys & Girls Club; Project Cope performing Natural Observations for Autistic and Abused Children; Frederick County Government Workforce Services; Frederick County Public Schools; Gale House, Inc. (Halfway House for women in Recovery); Alternatives For Crime (After School Program For At Risk Youth); Sanctuary Progressive Community Church (coordinator and developer of missions, youth mentoring, career readiness, grant writer and trustee board member); Fort Detrick Youth Center (Developed and coordinated Career Explorer Program for youth ages 12-16 as a result awarded employee of the quarter); Family Partnership of Frederick County Maryland, SkillsUSA (coached youth for local, state, regional and national competitions two students placing 9th and 12th in Job Interviewing), Ameri Corp, MaxLife, Balancing Life Issues, Katrina Disaster Relief (Church of the Brethren Disaster Relief Program for 5 years); Millstone International (Administrator for Human Trafficking non-profit organization in Ghana, Africa), Maggie’s Outreach Economic Development Center (Program Coordinator of the 4th in North Carolina Structured Day Program for youth on long-term suspension from Hoke County Public Schools) Maryland and North Carolina Reading Tutor, Coordinator Sunday School Superintendent, Representative of Church Women United AME Zion Fayetteville District Churches, Rev. Elect, Board member for DSS CARE Center for Family’s exposed to domestic violence and event manager/coordinator. 

Beginning as an Office Manager with a vision Charlene tenaciously focused on “Without a Vision One Will Perish” Proverbs 29:18. She has leaped tremendous bounds successfully accomplishing her goals as a minister, grant writer, program coordinator, teacher, motivational speaker, workshop developer and facilitator. Diligently developing an extensive expert background in Biblical studies, written communications, facilitating workforce readiness skills, specialized skills in developing individualized programs for personal and group centered learning environments, motivator, team Builder, designing and implementing strategic planning for community development.

Diligence, Willingness and Faithfulness has allowed this enthusiastic motivating individual to passionately seek literacy and career readiness strategies to empower all to diligently pursue educational opportunities that support the manifestation of personal dreams.

Charlene loves humor, working with young adults, theology, dancing, reading, writing, learning, enhancing spiritual growth, crocheting, making jewelry, community involvement, traveling, singing, volunteering for structured at risk youth initiatives, crafts, painting, art shows, plays, concerts, history, museums and studying without ceasing.

Caffeine is her fuel for super-power and the day might not happen without it. Charlene puts her coffee in her coffee and that’s when the day begins to make sense. Her best friends get dressed and ready when they know she's had a cup of fear of being left.
